Why Linked Data for government?
- government should be open and transparent. So, if no privacy issues involved, datasets created by tax money should be brought in the open and this can be done according to the linked data principles
- in this way interested citizens can use and judge the data
- in this way the data source becomes available to outside developers who are able by combining datasets, to build new innovative applications for whom the government itself doesn't have funds nor resources
- in this way one hopes to foster innovation and hopefully also economic growth
